दंडकारण्य का पठार दंडकारण्य का पठार यह छत्तीसगढ़ के दक्षिण दिशा में है। यह छत्तीसगढ़ का सांस्कृतिक दृष्टि से सबसे अधिक समृद्ध प्रदेश है। इस क्षेत्र का क्षेत्रफ़ल 39060 वर्ग किलोमीटर है। यह छत्तीसगढ़ के कुल क्षेत्रफल का 28.91 प्रतिशत है। इस पठार का विस्तार कांकेर ,कोंडागांव ,बस्तर ,बीजापुर ,नारायणपुर ,सुकमा जिला तथा मोहला-मानपुर तहसील तक है। इसका निर्माण धारवाड़ चट्टानों से हुआ है। बीजापुर तथा सुकमा जिले में बस्तर के मैदान का विस्तार है। यहाँ की सबसे ऊँची चोटी नंदी राज (1210 मीटर ) है जो की बैलाडीला में स्थित है। अपवाह तंत्र यह गोदावरी अपवाह तंत्र का हिस्सा है। इसकी सबसे प्रमुख नदी इंद्रावती नदी है। इसकी लम्बाई 286 किलोमीटर है। इसका उद्गम मुंगेर पर्वत से होता है। यह भद्राचलम के समीप गोदावरी नदी में मिल जाती है। इसकी प्रमुख सहायक नदी नारंगी ,शंखनी -डंकिनी ,मुनगाबहार ,कांगेर आदि है। वनस्पति यहाँ उष्णकटिबंधीय आद्र पर्णपाती वन पाए जाते है। इस क्षेत्र में साल वृक्षों की बहुलता है इसलिए इसे साल वनो का द्वीप कहा जाता है। यहाँ उच्च स्तर के स...
